This Eastpointe Mid-century modern home is a time-capsule

Tucked in Eastpointe is this Mid-century modern stunner. Real estate rep Muffy Kroha tells Metro Times that the home was built in 1950 by a man named Marvin Schott and his wife. "They were definitely ahead of the curve as far as what they liked in design," Kroha says. "It was the post-war moment where you could build your dream home, so this is a fantastic example of [it]. They did not have children, and they loved to entertain. So this house was built for them for the way they lived." Amenities include a lower-level bar with a working built-in barbecue. "I would say 98% of the things in that house, the bells and whistles, function," Kroha says. (The rectangular "pond" near the bar does not. "I personally would just fill it with ice and beer," Kroha says.) Kroha says the house stayed in the family for many years until the current sellers bought it two years ago, who made some improvements including a new roof and boiler. She says they're hoping to find a buyer who will maintain the home. "It was the focal point, centerpiece, pride and joy of their whole family," she says. "I am so much about having their dream see the light of day before somebody paints it gray," she adds. "It is a piece of history, and the quality is extreme. They spared no expense."
