Only in Hamtramck can there be an annual celebration of notorious over-actor Nicolas Cage, who has, according to Google, appeared in “at least 99” movies. The annual — and sold-out — Nicolas UnCaged festival took place on Saturday, March 7 at Planet Ant with a Las Vegas theme to honor the DIY festival's seventh iteration. The event screened two Cage classics, Snake Eyes and Leaving Las Vegas, the only film that won Cage an Oscar. As in past years, festivities also included an open mic portion and, new to this year, burlesque performances and an appearance by Detroit's own Eastside Elvis, who dazzled with a medley of the King's hits and officiated a shotgun wedding. Oh, and Cage also made an appearance — though only in cardboard spirit.
