The Congregation
9321 Rosa Parks Blvd., Detroit; 313-307-5518; thecongregationdetroit.com
A former Boston-Edison church was transformed into a new cafe and bar concept called the Congregation last year, and they allow dogs! Hallelujah! The space operates as a cafe in the mornings, serving Great Lakes coffee from the espresso bar and selling pastries sourced from Good Cakes and Bakes, Terri’s Cakes, and Eat Good Cookies, and in the evenings, it serves from a small menu with items such as flatbreads, soups, and salads. Along with food, it also serves cocktails, wine, and a selection of beer.

Como's
22812 Woodward Ave., Ferndale; 248-677-4439; comosrestaurant.com
Como’s has been a staple of Ferndale for decades. Like most classics, there comes a time to freshen shit up — from the aesthetic down to the menu. In 2018, it underwent a major makeover under new ownership, and now it's the beautiful little dog-friendly pizza party patio princess it was always meant to be.

 Old Miami
3930 Cass Ave., Detroit; 313-831-3830; oldmiami.business.site
There’s nothing quite like the patio of Detroit’s iconic Old Miami. The 40-plus-year-old veteran's bar along Cass Corridor might offer one of the biggest patio/backyard spaces of any of the entries on this list — and probably has the most affordable drinks, too. It has an outdoor bar, stage area, ample seating, and a big beautiful dog-friendly lawn to do whatever you damn well please. Well, almost anything: Don't forget to clean up after your pooch!

Detroit Fleat
1400 Porter St., Detroit; 313-338-8008; detroitfleat.com
Ever wonder where all the good food trucks are? Well, thanks to Detroit Fleat (which is actually in Ferndale), all you have to do is show up hungry. Oh, and bring your dog, too, because they're also welcome to join in the fun. In addition to centralizing metro Detroit's most popular food trucks, Detroit Fleat offers a festive outdoor dining space where humans and canines can come together over gyros, hot dogs, macaroni and cheese, and crepes — just maybe not at once.

UFO Factory
2110 Trumbull St., Detroit; ufofactory.com
We come in peace, bro. Over at Corktown's UFO Factory, dogs can hang on the patio or the recently constructed cloud deck, where you can also turn your back to the tasteless and hideous new construction that has attempted — and failed — to invade UFO Factory. Not today, bitches.

Batch Brewing
1400 Porter St., Detroit; 313-338-8008; batchbrewingcompany.com
If cold brews (beer slushies, anyone?) and elevated bar food is what you're after — oh, and a place where you can hang with your doggo — then Detroit's Batch Brewing is the spot. They've got a patio, as well as a dining tent, both of which welcome dogs.

Eastern Market Brewing Co.
2515 Riopelle St., Detroit; 248-556-5512; easternmarket.beer
Who doesn't like to crack a cold one with the boys/girls/persons? Well, at Eastern Market Brewing Co. (which is actually in Eastern Market unlike all those shops in the burbs that capitalize on Detroit to hock their goods), you can grab a brew and soak in the sights, sounds of the market with your four-legged friends.
