Vinsetta Garage
27799 Woodward Ave, Berkley
Those are coffee beans, and Vinsetta Garage's Honcho Dark Roast is, indeed, a coffee burger. It's made with a house-roasted Ethiopian blend crusted angus beef patty, Woodshop Michigan maple bacon, provolone, bread and butter pickles, and red eye gravy spread on a pretzel bun. Rusted Crow
78 W Adams Ave, Detroit
The Rusted Crow is one of those downtown spots trading in New American fare that seem to be all the rage these days. And on its Mac and Cheese Burger, the eatery blends two New American standards - the burger and mac and cheese. That's grilled onions, bacon, and a mac and cheese patty sandwiched between buns. Green Dot Stables
2200 W Lafayette Blvd, Detroit
You could search a long time if you're looking for a boring slider at Green Dot, and even its veg options are among the most creative in Detroit. Exhibit A is the quinoa burger, which is comprised of a kale and quinoa patty with chimichurri garnish. (Photo courtesy of Green Dot.)

Mallie's
19400 Northline Rd, Southgate
Mallie's Bar in Southgate is famous for its record setting burgers which tip the scales at as much at 250 pounds. Man V. Food recently took its crew to the Southgate bar and needed a busload of folks to polish off this monstrosity. (Photo via Trip Advisor)

Mercury Burger Bar
2163 Michigan Ave, Detroit
The Southwest Detroit burger at the well-loved Mercury Burger bar is a nod to the nearby Latino neighborhood. Its patty is topped with a chorizo slider, jalapeños, Müenster cheese, tortilla strips, avocado, and zanahorias.

Royale With Cheese
4163 Cass Ave., Detroit

There're a lot of wild eats at the Pulp Fiction-inspired Royale with Cheese, but we can vouch for the Kruncher burger, in which Chef Hass Bazzy's favorite chip brand drives the flavor. Its patty arrives under roasted green chile queso, southwest corn relish, jalapenos, cajun aioli, and a layer of jalapeno Krunchers. (Photo by Tom Perkins)

Rugby Grille
100 Townsend St, Birmingham

The $55 Rugby Grille foie burger. Leave it to Birmingham to offer a burger at such a price. But here's why: It's stacked high with Wagyu beef, black truffles, a sweet onion jam, seared foie gras, arugula, parmesan aioli, braised short rib, and Thomasville tomme cheese, and paired with summer truffle fries. And how cute is that branded "R"?

Marcus Hamburgers
6349 E McNichols Rd, Detroit
Marcus Hamburgers is a beloved, longtime Detroit slider slingin' diner on East McNichols in Detroit. It stands apart from its peers in that its patty is rectangle, and the burgers arrive enveloped in a hot dog bun. (Via Yelp)

Checker Bar
124 Cadillac Square, Detroit
The Checker Bar's Mount Olympus introduced us to the wonderful concept of a lamb burger. It's made with fresh ground lamb that's stuffed with feta cheese, cucumber, onion, and house made tzatziki sauce.

Basement Burger Bar
1326 Brush St, Detroit
This cheese stick, pineapple, and grilled onion burger is arguably cheating because a customer put it together off the Burger Basement Bar's create-your-own burger menu. But we're giving it a nod because it's both highly creative and surprisingly tempting. (Via basementburgerbar and ahmedtheawesome on Instagram)
