Lives of the Poets
(With Guitars)
@ Ditto Ditto
While the idea that any singer-songwriters might also be called poets is quaint as heck in 2016, Ray Robertson is such a strong writer that his musings on 13 outsiders who changed modern music carries the premise through with humor and (most importantly) irreverence. Thats right, this is a book reading, from an already-acclaimed book about such heroes from the dark end of the street as Townes Van Zandt, Ronnie Lane, Rosetta Tharpe, and the Ramones. Its not an average reading though; Danny Kroha, Kelly Caldwell, Aran Ruth, and others will sing songs by those poet-people.
Starts around 5 p.m.; 1548 Trumbull Ave., Detroit; dittoditto.org; Free, but maybe drop by with a few beverages to share.
